ABOUT

Sydney Jo Goodwill

Hello!

I love making movies. Brainstorming, writing, production and post. I can't think of a better feeling than the satisfaction I get from completing a project, big or small.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Film & Media Arts from the University of Utah in 2016, with a minor in Documentary Studies. In school I had the opportunity to learn about all aspects of film studies, camera operations and editing systems. And though I love narratives as much as the next person does, my heart lies with documentaries. While in school, I produced a documentary short titled Local Fidelity, which followed the tight-knit community of my local record store. It won a couple awards at the student showcase for graduate and undergraduate students, and is personally a very special film - long live the locally owned and operated!

Since graduating, I’ve worked on a number of personal film projects, including A Look Inside: Turn Up the Love Project, which has also been screened at a couple of festivals, winning the Audience Choice Award at the Ogden Film Festival in 2019.

Beyond my own work, I have been lucky to be a part of projects far bigger than me. In 2015 and 2016 I got to work as a Set PA on an HBO series Mosaic, and in 2017 I worked as a PA for a few days on the first season of Paramount Network’s Yellowstone. Those were both truly incredible opportunities and I feel very lucky I got to be a small part of them. I’ve day-played on a number of other Utah productions from Dwight in Shining Armor to a Bose commercial. I always enjoy a chance to PA when opportunities arise!

I own a small business where I produce freelance videography work; I hope this website will provide a nice preview into that side of my life as well. I shoot weddings, documentaries and promotional material. Feel free to contact me if you would like to collaborate on a project, or if you would like help shooting your special day!

Thanks for checking out my work!
